Hey, I'm Jamie Christ. I have been utterly obsessed with drawing and tattoos from a very young age. I remember the first time I saw a heavily tattooed person and the feeling it gave me. It was like a visual slap in the face. I loved how tough and strong he looked, like he was wearing a suit of armour. Now that tattoos are much more common, this effect is much harder to achieve. However, that is exactly what I try to do with my designs. To make something that is immediately striking and gives the wearer a sense of power and strength. The same way my ancestors in both Scotland and Norway did in Pict and Viking culture. That being said I want my work to be emotionally evocative as well. I really like to spend time with the client to figure out the best way to illustrate the feelings accociated with the meaning behind their tattoo. I have a charity project called 'Reclaimed Through Ink', where I will tattoo over peoples scars for free, in return for a donation to a mental health charity. After losing my brother to suicide I have done a fair amount of work for mental health charities but now I am so happy to be able to use my lifes' passion of tattooing to give back to the world.
